Jeff Lyons inherited a coaster collection.

Jeff tells the story.

That's my grandfather, Major William J. Deragisch, deceased.

These are his beer coasters.

While he was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany after WWII, Granda Deragisch was a in a driving club. The primary purpose of the driving club seems to have been to find different places across the German countryside to go and have a beer. This is where he built his collection of cool beer coasters. I became the caretaker of the collection after he passed away. Not through any grand design, just because my mother doesn't see the beauty in this kind of thing and has enough junk of her own to worry about.

Here is Bill with Dorothy (my grandmother) at a New Year's party somewhere in Heidelberg, Germany. Grandma was a looker.

Grandpa Bill also collected beer glasses.

When not out carousing, my grandfather did some pretty cool stuff, like building the Irwin Army Hospital in Fr. Riley Kansas. He was the project officer for the hospital's construction.
